obrigam a reformular programas e arquitecturas
institucionais para que os problemas
emergentes possam encontrar uma resposta
adequada). Neste artigo, o autor procura
E-Commerce
E-commerce is a business model that allows organizations to explore global markets. The objective of
this study is to identify all the key points involved in e-commerce business, along with several sub-themes
related to e-commerce, namely the concept of e-business and e-marketing. Next, it was noted that e commerce could express the connections between many purchase actors but is mainly used through the
B2C model. The adoption of e-commerce is linked to different internet techniques and tools, which has
several advantages and risks. This study also highlights the connections of e-commerce with globaliza tion, e-marketplaces, and platforms. Finally, the authors present the KPIs in terms of sales, marketing,
and customer service that the e-sellers should take into account when they are defining the e-commerce
strategy and the age segmentation criteria that must be used to create homogeneous groups of e-buyers.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Chilltime’s online game expansion into targeted countries in the MENA and East-Asia region
Being the most innovator Portuguese company in the online gaming industry, Chilltime aims
to expand its leading game, World War Online, into targeted countries in the MENA and East-
Asia countries. Already present in more than 100 countries and with more than 10 000 active
players, the company expects to have his game released worldwide for the mobile platform,
with players from every country fighting to be the ultimate winner.
The motivation for this dissertation was to write a case study about a company in its early years
and analyse the strategic and marketing approaches that better suits its final objective of having
an effective and efficient market development. The main challenge of the company is to
understand the feasibility of investing in the marketing development in countries with cultures
and behaviours much different from the Europeans.
With a study of the market potential in each country, it is concluded that countries in the Middle
East and East-Asia have a higher probability of becoming profitable for the company. Such is
due to the higher number of online people and smartphone users, the easiness to adapt the game
to the local culture and the monetization potential that these regions offer to the company. It is
given some recommendation on the best online and offline marketing strategies that can lead
to an efficient market development.
eficiente
Synthesis of formation control for an aquatic swarm robotics system
Formations are the spatial organization of objects or entities according to some
predefined pattern. They can be found in nature, in social animals such as fish
schools, and insect colonies, where the spontaneous organization into emergent
structures takes place. Formations have a multitude of applications such as in
military and law enforcement scenarios, where they are used to increase operational
performance. The concept is even present in collective sports modalities such as
football, which use formations as a strategy to increase teams efficiency.
Swarm robotics is an approach for the study of multi-robot systems composed
of a large number of simple units, inspired in self-organization in animal societies.
These have the potential to conduct tasks too demanding for a single robot operating alone. When applied to the coordination of such type of systems, formations
allow for a coordinated motion and enable SRS to increase their sensing efficiency
as a whole.
In this dissertation, we present a virtual structure formation control synthesis
for a multi-robot system. Control is synthesized through the use of evolutionary
robotics, from where the desired collective behavior emerges, while displaying key-features such as fault tolerance and robustness. Initial experiments on formation
control synthesis were conducted in simulation environment. We later developed
an inexpensive aquatic robotic platform in order to conduct experiments in real world conditions.
Our results demonstrated that it is possible to synthesize formation control for
a multi-robot system making use of evolutionary robotics. The developed robotic
platform was used in several scientific studies.
a performance operacional.

Love me do, love me don't : factor drivers, development and consequences of brand love : a comparison between Portugal and the USA
Assim, gestores e
Consumers usually refer to their favorite brands as brands they love, and love, as some would
say, is all you need. Consequently, managers and researchers rushed to develop the idea of
brand love. Today, this concept is currently used as a holistic term that is linked to several
intense emotions combined with an intense purchase or usage experience that results in
positive behaviors.
Nevertheless, this valuable notion remains yet to become an established consensual
marketing construct. In addition, the state-of-the-art knowledge does not allow neither
managers nor researchers to understand if the foundations or dimensional aspects of brand
love vary from one brand to another or from one country to another. That is the goal of the
present research. It aims to characterize brand love dimensions, its impact on market outcome
variables and compare the results of brands from different categories and consumers from
entirely different countries.
Using structural equation modeling on survey data, we propose a brand love model consisting
of a higher order emotional dimension passion and first order dimensions such as
commitment, self-personality brand integration and long-term perspective. The model
includes market outcomes such as brand loyalty, positive word of mouth and brand
commitment as consequences of brand love. Our results allow us to propose model and
market outcomes differences identified across location and brand category and we discuss
how coherent they are with the organizational and cultural differences put forward by
Hofstede.
We conclude this research by presenting theoretical and managerial implications on brand
building and marketing activities
What drives distinct ploidy phases of isomorphic biphasic life cycles to occur at uneven abundances
Tese de dout., Ciências do Mar, da Terra e do Ambiente (Biologia Populacional), Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia, Univ. do Algarve, 2011Throughout the history of eukariotic primary producers, namely the plant and
algae, there was an evolution of the life cycles along with their morphological and
physiological complexity and role on the ecosystems. The earlier, simpler ones, namely
the bryophytes, have haploid life cycles. The most complex and evolved ones, namely
the vascular plants, have diploid life cycles. In between there is a whole range of taxa
with haploid-diploid life cycles. It most often occurs in brown or red algae. In the
former the ploidy phases are heteromorphic whereas in the latter are frequently
isomorphic, which raises the question about the reasons for their unbalanced occurrence
in their habitats when these are expected to be even as a consequence of isomorphicity.
The hypothesis that have been proposed may be resumed to two: (i) ploidy
dissimilarities in their fecundities as a consequence of the differential cytological
processes of spore production; and (ii) ploidy dissimilarities in growth and survival, of
both spores and fronds, as a consequence of a conditional differentiation required to the
stability and evolution of their biphasic life cycles. However, there is a gap between the
hypotheses proposed and the observed pattern of phase dominance as the link has not
been proved so far. The objective of the present thesis is to help filling this gap by
establishing how ploidy dissimilarities in the life cycle may generate effective uneven
abundances that match the observed in the field. To do that the thesis is divided into six
chapters. In the first chapter there is a general introduction to the subject. In the second
chapter it was accessed how different types of vital rates may be generally efficient, or
inefficient, forcing functions upon the pattern of ploidy phase dominance. In the third
chapter it was accessed how efficiently the different types of vital rates may impose a
geographical variability of ploidy dominance like the ones reported for a few species. In
the forth chapter it was accessed how the life cycle response to time instability is
dependent on the ploidy dissimilarities in the vital rates, and how time variability may
surge even in stable environments. In the fifth chapter it was accessed how efficiently,
or inefficient, the different types of vital rates may impose an intra-population pattern of
ploidy dominance with a fine resolution both over space and time, as it has been
reported in the literature. In the sixth chapter are the final conclusions. It was found that
ploidy phase dissimilarities upon the survival rates of the fronds and/or upon the
performance of the spores are the most efficient and likeliest drives for the patterns of
ploidy phase dominance observed in the field.
As
No quinto capítulo é investigado quão
As
Significances of differences between slopes: An upgrade for replicated time series
In some ecology subjects the slope of the line fit between x and y variables is the focus of concern. Such is the case of self-thinning theory, developed for plant demography and later verified also occurring in algae and animals. Different slopes identify statistical populations subject to different conditions. Therefore, it is fundamental that a test is able to identify honestly significant differences between slopes. The most used tested for the overlap of the 95% confidence intervals of the bootstrapped slopes. However, Vieira and Creed (2013) demonstrated it to possess weak theoretical grounds having proposed a permutation methods alternative. Unfortunately, both were fallible upon small sample sizes and/or large data scatter. Data about self-thinning, as well as other subjects, often comes in replicated time series enabling upgrading the test algorithm to randomize sampling units only within the respective time frame. This was added to the previous software, increasing outstandingly the capacity of the permutation test in identifying both true and false differences between slopes
